Our faculty is an emerging centre for teaching and research, and home to some of the most outstanding scholars drawn from diverse areas of law practice and teaching. Additionally, as one of Nigeria newest law faculties, we prioritize research and excellence. Our staff are encouraged to develop their research focus and take pride in providing solutions to contemporary legal issues and making outstanding contributions to legal research across a broad range of areas from private and public law through to international law.

THE MISSION OF THE FACULTY OF LAW, UNIDEL, AGBOR.

A Faculty of Law dedicated to the pursuit of excellence and innovations in scholarship, research and teaching. To provide students with quality legal education and support services that will lead to the successful completion of the law degree program, acquisition of basic skills, proficiency, effective communication and creativity so as to proffer sustainable solutions for tomorrow’s challenges.

History of the Faculty of Law

The Faculty of Law was established in 2021. Full scale academic work in the Faculty started in the 2021/2022 session. The faculty considers its role to be that of providing a sound university education in law.The faculty aims at producing graduates who will excel in

(a) Sound Academic knowledge and practice.

(b)Have a good grasp of current information technology and

(c)Be knowledgeable in other areas of human endeavour like Psychology, Political Science, Economics, Philosophy etc., so as to fully appreciate the role that law plays in the society.

The Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) Degree at the University of Delta (UNIDEL), Agbor, gives the law graduates the basic legal education and a thorough grounding in legal, academic and clinical skills needed to pursue a career as a Barrister and Solicitor. The law courses of the Faculty of Law are taught by academic experts who put real world-class legal experiences at the core value of the law degree program. The UNIDEL Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) Degree satisfies the Council of Legal Education’s new curriculum and its Final Bar Examination. The law program provides law students with principles of judicial process and legal development. It also equips them with the basic tools of legal analysis.

Aims and Objectives of the LL.B Degree Program

The main aims and objectives of the degree program in law are:

to ensure that Law is taught as it exists at any given time, and every Law student adopts a comparative approach to legal studies bearing in mind that there are many systems of Law (Common Law, Statutory Law, Customary Law and Islamic Law) currently in operation.

to ensure that students are imbued with general knowledge and understanding of Law.

to develop in students the intellectual ability to apply research, knowledge and analytical skills to solving theoretical and practical legal problems.

to acquaint students with principles of the judicial process and legal systems, as well as their interaction within socio-economic frameworks.

to provide, through training and orientation, an appreciation of the growing relevance of inter- and multi-disciplinary approach to the solution of complex life problems and the role of law therein.
